Monarch, youths, traditionalists tackle Fayose over Ikere shrine

The ancient town of Ikere-Ekiti, Ikere Local Government area of Ekiti State was yesterday soaked in apprehension over alleged threats by Governor Ayo Fayose to uproot a ‘sacred’ tree located at the centre of the town to enable ongoing road dualisation. Construction workers and agents of government made efforts on Monday to remove the tree, but were stopped by aggrived youths and traditionalists who formed a rampaging ring around the area, located at the Odo-Oja end of the town.
