Two tankers involved in head-on collision in Kwara

Two articulated vehicles fully loaded with petrol have been involved in an accident at Kanbi-Oloru along Ilorin-Jebba road in Kwara State.

According to the spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the timely arrival of firemen to the accident scene saved the two vehicles from being burnt.

He said: “The trailers with registration numbers WSE163XA and FGF372ZS had a head on collision as a result of wrongful and careless overtaking by one of the tanker drivers.

“The accident occurred on the evening of Saturday and the timely arrival of our firemen saved the two petrol tankers that were fully loaded with 33,000 litres each of petrol from being razed and total destruction.

“Most importantly, no live was lost in the accident.”

Following the incident, the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged drivers to always exercise patience whenever they drive.
