The pan-Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari would fulfill his promise of looking into political solutions in the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) from prison.

Fielding questions from Saturday Telegraph in Enugu yesterday, the National Publicity secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ognonnia said that the apex Igbo group, the president and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami had at different times made remarks to indicate that a po-litical solution was possible.

“Those who know will understand that when you talk about political solution, it is a holistic measure through which the activism in IPOB will reduce, and Nnamdi Kanu will be released so that there will be peace in the South East. “For instance, if Nigeria is known for bad news it can affect our international relations, how people will look at us outside Nigeria, the investment climate, the financial inflow and ultimately affect the economy and instability will increase. “So when we are talking about peace in the South East or any part of the country, it will help to stabilize the economy, it is a way of saying let there be peace in Nigeria,” he said.
